Through a selection of texts which represent pre-, peri-, and post-Independence Algeria, this course examines the complex relationship between Algeria and France at various times in contemporary history.聽Students should be prepared for an intensive reading and writing experience. Active participation in discussions and workshops is expected.聽
This is an introductory program and no prior experience in French is required. However, for intermediate and advanced students in French, texts will be read in the original.聽
