While specific deadlines and dates may vary each quarter, the overall order of this list will guide you along a consistent path, ensuring you are well-prepared no matter when you start your academic year.鈥
First Steps
Make sure these first steps are completed successfully before moving forward with the registration process.
Understand Your Admission
Make sure you have submitted all your transcripts and documents via your Admission鈥檚 portal since this can affect class standing. Contact Admissions if you have any questions about your transcripts or transfer credits.
Have your plans changed? We understand. Contact Admissions if you need to delay or withdraw your application.鈥
Activate Your Accounts
You will need to set-up two accounts to complete this checklist:

- AV天堂 Email Account
My AV天堂
My AV天堂 is your central hub for accessing personal information and campus services at AV天堂. Check My AV天堂 often to stay on top of your academic and administrative tasks. Through My AV天堂, you can:
- Register for Classes: Manage your course enrollments and schedules
- Access Financial Aid: View and manage your financial aid information and applications
- Submit Evaluations and Academic Statements: Complete and review academic evaluations
- Pay for Tuition: Find your account statements and make payments
- Check Class Schedules: Find your schedule and campus events
- Find Community Resources: View job board, emergency alerts, parking, and more
AV天堂 Email
Your AV天堂 email is the primary inbox for college communication from this point forward 鈥 make it a habit to check it often. This account is where you will receive announcements, reminders, event invitations and more via Outlook. Your AV天堂 email will also give you access to the Microsoft 365 tools like Word, Excel, OneDrive, and more.
Understand Your Confidential Records
Your educational information as a college student is protected by the Federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Under this law, college officials cannot release educational records, health, or housing information, without written permission from the student, even for students under age 18. If you would like us to share your information, you will need to complete a release form.
Check Your Financial Aid
We encourage all students to apply for financial aid every year to help to reduce tuition costs. Financial aid comes in the form of grants, loans, scholarships, tuition waivers, work study and tax credits.
Once AV天堂 receives your and , we will review your information to determine eligibility. We will contact you if we need any additional information.
We will notify you by email when you have an award to review and accept.
Pay Your Deposit
Your tuition deposit will reserve your seat and clear the way for you to select your programs once registration opens. Tuition deposits are non-refundable. Here are the steps:
- Log in to
- Under "Community", select "Web Payment"
- Under "Available items", select "Tuition Deposit"
- Select the deposit relevant to your studies
- Select your first quarter from the drop-down list 鈥 it is important this is correct!
- Select 鈥淎dd to payment鈥
- Select 鈥淧ay now鈥 and follow payment prompts

Complete these steps as soon as possible if you plan to live on campus or participate in introductory events.
Apply for Campus Housing
AV天堂 has both residence halls and apartments for residential students with many options and amenities. Rooms do fill up, so if you are seeking on-campus housing, submit your application as soon as possible.
Register for Greener Foundations
Designed for first-year students, Greener Foundations is a 2-credit course in Fall to help you transition successfully to academic and student life. Find out more about the requirements and registration process before you register.
Attend an Academic Fair
Bring the academic catalog to life. Ask questions directly with faculty, pick up materials or a syllabus, and evaluate your registration choices.
Apply for Pre-Orientation
(Fall Quarter only) Jumpstart your AV天堂 education with our optional, immersive 5-day, 2-credit Pre-Orientation course. Choose from 5 different program tracks designed to help you transition to AV天堂 with opportunities to build community, go on cool field trips, and get a head start on your academic experience at AV天堂.

Registration
Registration opens for Spring, Summer, and Winter quarters on Week 10 during the prior quarter. Fall quarter registration opens at the end of May each year. Classes fill up fast so be ready to register as early as possible.

Complete these required steps at least 3 - 6 weeks before your first quarter starts.
Complete the Geoduck 101 Canvas Modules
These Canvas modules are designed to support you as you prepare for your first quarter at AV天堂. You will learn how to navigate many of the tools, resources, and processes that you will encounter as a new Greener. This tutorial will remain a resource for you throughout the year.
You will receive an invitation to Geoduck 101 in your AV天堂 email.
Prepare for New Student Orientation
New Student Orientation is a critical step in understanding AV天堂. Depending on the quarter you start, there are multiple options for how you can participate in Orientation.
Keep an eye on your AV天堂 email for your invitation to this required event.
Pay Your Tuition
Your tuition bill is posted three weeks before the start of each quarter and is due by the end of Week 1.
The Student Accounts office supports students in understanding tuition, housing, and fee billing. Learn more about billing, refunds, and monthly payment plan options that may support your needs.
Get Your Student ID Card
Your AV天堂 student ID card is your key to campus life. Request your card 30 days before your classes start.

Plan Your Transportation to Campus
Navigating your way to campus efficiently is crucial for a stress-free start to your academic journey, whether you're commuting daily or planning occasional visits. Let's ensure your commute is as seamless as possible so you can focus on what truly matters鈥攜our studies and campus experience.

Pay for Campus Parking
Get your parking permit at Parking Services! Parking permits are required at the AV天堂 Olympia campus.
Local Transit Service
Ride the bus for free! Intercity Transit routes 41 and 48 stop by AV天堂 Olympia every 15 minutes during peak hours.
Out of the Area
We are located 50 miles south of the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Olympia is also served by Greyhound, Trailways bus companies, and Amtrak trains.
Order Books and Supplies
Get your program books and supplies at The Greener Bookstore before you get started. The Bookstore has a reading list look-up tool for each program.
Explore Dining and Meal Plan Options
You can find multiple locations for food and beverages on campus including the Greenery cafeteria, grab-and-go options, and more.
Sign up for College Emergency Notifications
Register your contact information to receive alerts directly to your phone or email from Omnilert. Get real-time updates on weather-related delays, campus closures, and other urgent announcements.
Connect with Support Resources
Get connected with these resources early to plan for your specific needs, request accommodations and find community.
Request Disability Accommodations
You have a right to services and reasonable accommodations in your education. Make requests for accommodation every quarter through Access Services.
Use Your Veterans and Dependents Benefits
The Veterans Resource Center is here to support veterans and dependents in using the benefits you have earned through your service to our county.
BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and Undocumented Student Resources
AV天堂 provides support services on campus through BIPOC & LGBTQ+ Intersectional Support Services (BLISS). BLISS centers BIPOC, trans, queer, undocumented and DACAmented students and provides:
- The Student Equity and Arts Lounge (SEAL) - a space for students, by students
- Advising and support for social, personal, and career matters
- Referrals to on- and off-campus resources
- Educational, community-building, and cultural programming

Starting college is confusing and there are a lot of steps to work through. For students who are the first in their family to attend college, you can apply for additional support and guidance through TRIO Student Support Services.

Basic Needs Center
The Basic Needs Center provides necessities such as food, clothing, hygiene products, housing navigation, and community resources at no cost to you. We offer private one-on-one and virtual appointments to help you connect to these resources.
